  1. Greg Eboigbodin

Underwood said, from Day One, that he doesn't care about rankings, stars, etc. Why should Greg's commit surprise you? Actually, I believe that we should go after kids with potential, develop a winning program, get back in the tournament, and THEN and only then go "all out" for the elite prospects. Or, we can continue to put all the eggs in a broken basket and end up with another Jaylon Tate. Your choice! My opinion.
  2. This is a 20 year rebuild

Did you factor in climate change?
  3. Mark Alstork Transfer

I'm excited. Illinois is at a low point. Who knows what BU can do with this kid. Let's see how it plays out.
  4. Official "Do we have a Boise State thread" thread

I had class at SLU with coach Walker. We would talk hoops all the time. Good guy. Funny guy.

If Underwood were super fat, he would totally be Chris Farley.

The old "we need to talk" look.

  9. John Groce Firing Thread

My thoughts... You will not find a more dedicated or energetic guy than John Groce. But that's not enough to win in the Big Ten. In many cases, I believe he made the same mistakes Weber made -- recruit the top kids, get close, end up second, and then Jaylon Tate is your staring point guard in year 5. He rolled the dice. He, too, lost. And this is just my observation, but his recruits rarely matched his motor. The personalities of Malcolm Hill and Maverick Morgan weren't exactly rah rah high motor. Finke shows some motor. Lucas shows some motor. McLaurin showed this motor. But Cosby? No. Starks, maybe, but mostly with the ball in his hands. Now Nichols...if Groce had recruited THOSE guys from Day One -- and had also found a point guard, like a McIntosh (which Chris Collins was able to do), I really think this would have been different. I don't know Dustin Ford, never met him. But I never liked the guy's body language, and that means something to me. Malcolm Hill was a very good college player. I would take many more Malcolm Hills. But he is really a nice complimentary player, not a star. Yes, I know he scored a lot of points, because he had the talent to do so, and it was needed. But, in my opinion, that task was too large for us to break through. Darius Paul. DO I need to explain? And, of course, Kendrick Nunn. He was probably worth 2-3 wins. Would it have mattered? We'll never know. Same goes with what could have been if Snider had kept his commitment. Or if Cliff hadn't switched the hat. Maybe you get by with one of those going your way. But two is too many to overcome. And I know Coach Groce won't make excuses, but YES, he had some very bad luck. But he missed the tournament 4 years in a row, and I still believe this program should be in the tournament 8 out of every 10 years. Not too much to ask. For the next coach, I am fine with a down year, an NIT year, and then a SOLID (not bubble) year in the tournament with recruits on the way. Thanks for your contributions, John Groce. I wish you and your family all the best.
  10. Whitman presser

No. A real home run. Just giving you my honest opinion.

Martin would be a home run, in my opinion.

  13. The @Iowa post-Postgame Thread thread

Loved this. I noticed on BTN after the game, when they were getting ready to do player interviews, Groce was hugging everyone, and then he looked up and saw Thorne walking by. Groce sort of didn't know what to do, so he didn't do anything...he didn't smile at Thorne, hug him, they just passed each other. I'm guessing that the decisions are wearing on him. (Not trying to be dramatic here, just an observation on my part.)
