  1. Bye Bye Loren Tate

He was an Illini historian. That's fine no biggie. Like anyone else who retires, enjoy.
  2. This thread is a wonderful display of why I no longer care. I perused it a few times, got tired of reading, and got back to normal life. Checked again...rinse, repeat. I received a solid and useful engineering degree. The connectivity I have to the University is now limited to that and being a fan of a hoops program. I can find at any school. Since there is no longer a symbolic portrayal, even if it needed some updating, I'm not going to suddenly add interest in native american issues afterwards. 3 n 1, sure, take it. Adding a new mascot? Whatever. Sterile environments are really great. Yes. Go college. Get learned. Find job, Roboto.

  4. College Football Fan Map

Frankly, I'm surprised the map has any color at all here. In the last 3 years, I have been willing to pay to see 3 programs from theoretically worse conferences that are not Illinois, and accepted free Tix to Illinois once. Amazed there was orange. Illini Hoops is the nicotine I'll never get out of my system.

Frankly, I'm still the map has any color at all here. In the last 3 years, I have been willing to pay to see 3 programs from theoretically worse conferences that are not Illinois, and accepted free Tix to Illinois once.
  6. Why is HuffPo so fawning toward Islam?

    No. Just no.
  7. College Football Week 1

I like it. As someone who traveled Friday night to hope Wyoming would beat Iowa the next day, I stopped for a beer or 3 in Davenport and had them switch a TV to NIU game. Loved it. When I am near home, I catch local HS football. Some also complain about NASCAR Saturday Night races... I'll catch a local track race in Sycamore independent of major series TV schedule. I like options... hasn't hurt my support of local sports at all.

  9. I have the appropriate symbol

There is no reason to fake this. Swapping the meaning does nothing. It will be offensive to those harmed by the brutality of our soldiers. See how this works? No mascot. No name change until forced. Native Americans sadly got nothing useful from this whole long running episode. Lots of time, money, effort, without a tangible nor measurable benefit. If there has been an after study, I'd love to see it. Even if the results are soft I'd accept them.
  10. This Board Lately

In this case Dee Brown isn't the real issue. I love Dee Brown as an Illini. Unless he injured or endangered someone it doesn't impact me. Ms. Ryan's selectivity of how to report at least made me wonder. In fairness to her, I don't know how she was instructed or edited, but the two articles in a few days...made me go ummmmmm??
  11. This Board Lately

Should be routine information to her circles of colleagues. Thus, even if she couldn't report it, since she had so many thoughts for Sunday, her Dee article was quite devoid of thought.
  12. This Board Lately

It is interesting how convenient this article was to write. I'm trying to understand if she is columnist or reporter. If she is both fine, just interesting to see the wide distinction in her approaches. I read her Sunday article that morning. I smiled and moved on. I'm interested in opinions. My only criticism of her comments then...she had a lot to say so they should have given her a legit word count or she should have lobbied to get it. She basically dragged a spam can opener across any readers. Yet, on Dee so simple. In fairness to her, I won't give it further thoughts.
  13. Jud

Another great character in an era of Big Ten coaching characters. Title with Magic and legacy after. I think He, Gene, and Lou were great coaches...not notably less skilled in X's and O's to Big Bad Bob. I will say though, Jud slamming the ball off the floor into his own damn face is truly a greatest sports blooper. Rivals all. No idea if he was a good man like Lou, But he was an entertaining part of a great BT hoops era.
  14. Sorry but I gotta say Josh Whitman

But he never could figure out WebEx. And his TPS reports were shoddy at best. We've all seen the TMZ footage of him in a pile of cherries. Unelectable today.
  15. Jay Cutler retires

I felt this in July before the election. You are right. He never saw this coming. Tried to tank. Oopsies!!! Not at one moment has he ever wanted this responsibility. His ego wouldn't let him quit. Clinton, my goodness how out of touch are you and your peeps, to not win. It was gift wrapped.
