His schtick is a little tough to handle. I'll go with Lovie if it's between the 2.

I'm pretty sure he is too.

Our recruiting is already sluggish and we are going to be really, really bad this year, which in turn won't help recruiting.

Prove me wrong, Lovie.

Could be.

They should have grabbed Mike Leach though even before that

Fleck is probably better relating/catering to players at the college level this day in age, but man I have a hard time believing he's a better coach than Lovie. You don't get to where Lovie was and not be a great coach. Our staff at Illinois has more years coaching in the NFL than any other staff in the country. That alone should get kids in the program, but you've got to win. If Lovie and staff can "coach up" these current players and produce improved results on the field, I really think you're going to see recruiting take off. It's just gonna be a slow and steady process.

Beckmanish, but with a lot of wins. I think he's a good coach, despite all the gimmicks. Better than Lovie? I don't know.

I'm not sure I'd call Lovie a "great" coach. Most of his Bears teams were mediocre and his Tampa teams were just bad.

Holy #$%&@!. A Mamador post I fully agree with!

He's great in the sense if you compare him to...Tim Beckman, Ron Zook, Ron Turner though

Lovie had three seasons under .500 in Chicago (his first at 5-11, and then two at 7-9) out of nine. He was fired after winning 10 games, and finished with an 81-63 record.

He inherited an empty cupboard in Tampa Bay, took a franchise-type QB at #1 overall, and then improved by four wins in year two before he was fired.

He's not Belichek but Lovie showed some pretty good coaching chops in the NFL. My biggest concern about Lovie is that being a coach in college is obviously quite a bit different. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if Fleck ended up a better college coach.

And I'm not shocked that you are oblivious to his issues at Wash State and Texas Tech as you don't seem to know much unless someone in the AD's office tells you it.

His "issues" lol

17 combined wins the last 2 years at a total doormat of a program. People would be building him a statue here with results like that

....but go on, tell me more about his "issues"...

His "issues", while probably really upsetting to a social justice warrior like you, seem pretty murky at best and not worth passing up over a guy who is clearly an excellent coach

Pretty murky? I am sure bringing him here would have gone well given Beckman's experience with the same "murky issues." You are such a weasel-voiced dork.
